About Me

Hi, I'm Jamie, the owner of Out Yonder Works. Before starting this business, I spent years behind a desk working in different fields of design. I have worked as a mechanical drafter at a machine shop, architectural detailer, EWP designer to an inground pool and landscape designer. While it paid the bills, I always felt like I was wasting the talents that come most naturally to me—being creative, working with my hands, and bringing order to things that need a little care. Life is too short to spend it staring at a computer screen when I'd rather be outside creating something beautiful.

The name Out Yonder Works came about because I've always been the person saying, "It's over yonder" or "Out yonder." It reminds me of my granny, who used to talk about "them ain'ts over yonder" whenever she spotted an ant bed. It's one of those little sayings that has stuck with me through the years and always makes me smile.

I grew up in Midlothian, Tx. and now reside in Hawkins, Tx. I have a boston terrier named Waylon. I love hunting, fishing, camping, four wheeling, kayaking, gardening, and roadtripping.

For me, this business is about doing work I enjoy, and that makes me happy. I like seeing a space transformed, helping people out, and leaving things cleaner, more inviting, and better than I found them. Every yard has its own personality, and I appreciate the chance to spend my days outdoors, working with my hands, meeting good people, and doing something that never feels like a waste of time.
